Brain Computer Control

Since the introduction of mouse, there's not much advancement in human-computer interface technology. The new precision laser mouse does not change the fact that it is still a mouse, and function like standard mouse.

Gaming interface these days, are still the same with Pong from oldies, using some sort of buttons/keys, joystick, and to some modern Pong (google: Plasma Pong): mouse. There's not much improvement...

To our surprise, OCZ Technology bring this "out of this world" brain interface called NIA that stands for Neural Impulse Actuator to our casual computer and even branded it for gaming purpose.

Imagine, your playing Crysis using NIA. While you still using keyboard to move the character, and mouse to aim, but you can activate certain abilities your character have with a simple flick of you right eye... How cool was that?

NIA was able to detect some sort of brain waves, muscle movement and others. But to be the truth, this is not yet Matrix technology! You have to train hard to use this NIA. It's not mind reader, but rather, a set of tools that read your brain waves and others sensor such as your face muscle and you MUST train to using it before you could even play a Pong with it!

For example, you concentrate your eyes on the screen but all your face muscle is relaxed. If you can manage to do that constantly until NIA software decide that it was enough trained. It's just like training a voice command, but much harder.

In Fact I Care You Very Much

To be the truth, I'm new to mandarin audiophile cd, but when I hear this album being played at the store I'm immediately falling in love.

Never mind the typo in track names or album title. Almost all Chinese products did it. English is not their primary language and not their primary concern. Just look at some china product's english manual.

Enough with that, this album is recorded in Direct Stream Digital (DSD) format, and as they claim in album cover: The Next Revolution In CD Technology.

This CD produces quite detailed music, good lush midrange. Zhou Hong (the female vocalist) voice is pretty sweet, and Jiang Zhimin (the male vocalist) voice is a good match.

I really like this CD, despite I don't understand a word. Sometimes hearing a foreign music makes us more relaxed because our brain doesn't have to translate what it means. Just get this CD, and you'll loving it. Guaranteed!
Errr... maybe not for everybody :D

Capacity Crisis

Yesterday, I'm still in the middle of capacity crisis.

I have a large collection of music that I rip in FLAC lossless format. That takes a lot of space in my harddisk.
Just one album takes up to 350 MB.

The whole lossless music collection I had is 20 GB and counting...

And not to mention my collection of movies that maybe takes about 300 GB.

Finally, I decided to buy an external storage big enough to move all my musics, movies and photos. First I think of 500 GB capacity, but harddisk price is really low nowadays, and I decided to get 1 TB one.

I finally buy a Western Digital My Book Essential External Harddisk 1 TB. One terrabyte should enough for now. This cool black beauty sports a cool blue light that indicates if it's accessed and capacity. And it is very cool and quiet, and will not distract you at all. Well, the blue light will :D

I'm thinking that I will not in capacity crisis anymore in what? 1 year? 2 years?
Nobody know. Increased capacity will lead to increased file size.
Maybe I will start to rip HD movies?

And when I'm happy with all of this, my brain tells me something!
How can I be sure that it will be durable?
Can I depend on this to backup all my important files?
Oh no, how do I supposed to backup this 1 TB harddisk if something happens?
How many recordable DVD do I need, and the hassle of doing it?

The only obvious option without any hassle to this problem, is to buy another 1 TB storage. Arrgghhh........!

Made in China...

China has had manufactured so many product and it's distributed to all around the world. And it has become a public bad image that all china product is a fake or rip-off from original product made by other country, and quality is very bad.

Introducing my earbud, Yuin PK-1 (made in china):

This earbud is sooo good, detailed and have plenty of definition, clarity, midrange and bass to me, despite it's cheap looks. And it's so portable and so comfort to wear because it's earbud! You don't feel the weight of full size cans (headphones) but you do enjoy the sound quality of full size cans.

When this little monster come out, the whole headphone enthusiast community praise it. And some people at give the honour title of "The Best Earbud In The World" to Yuin PK-1. They tested 3 headphones, and Yuin products is two of it. PK-1 and PK-2 (cheaper than PK-1).

The cheapest of Yuin line of products is PK-3 which is really affordable and good for it's price. Yuin PK-1 is around $150, PK-2 is around $80, and PK-3 is around $40 (in US Dollars).

So, China has proved that they can produce something excellent like this headphones.
Made in China? So what?
